Sunsetting Crew Memberships

  • We’re ending the membership program.
  • Prices storewide will be adjusted to be somewhere between the regular and crew price - we’re aiming for around 10% above the old crew price.

Dear members,

Last year was an incredible year for us at The Brig. We launched the site at the end of 2023 and feel like we really hit our stride early in 2024. The membership program was an idea we had to not only be able to offer great prices that were subsidised by recurring membership fees, but also offer interesting and exciting perks. Things like early sale access, a points system for redeeming uplifts at your favourite parks, and polls and surveys to give members a voice on what they’d like to see in the store. We’d love to revisit this in the future given the opportunity.

Just over a year on, it’s hard to say whether or not the program has been a success for our bottom line, but one thing has become clear, which is it's a lot of work to run and create features for members on the The Brig. Admittedly, we never got the program into full swing, so it’s impossible to say whether it would have been a smash hit - but given the uncertain success thus far, and balancing it against the opportunity cost, Eugene and I have made the tough decision to end the program in order to redirect our energy to adjacent projects in lowering the cost of riding in Australia. 

We’re thankful to all of you who believed in us enough to drop on a $99 subscription with a young new store and we don’t take that for granted. We’re keenly aware that this is a very sudden shift, but rest assured that we’re committed to ensuring nobody who put their faith in us and purchased a membership will be left high and dry.

We hope members have gotten more out of the program than the $99 they put in, and for any of you who didn’t, we’ll be reaching out via email to offer a full or generous pro-rata refund.

Now, we aren’t just doing away with the crew price and slapping everybody with the old regular prices - that’s not in line with our mission to make riding more affordable in Aus. Instead we’ll be reviewing and adjusting our prices to be somewhere in the middle. 

Members remaining aboard until the end of their current annual cycle will receive modified discounts so that you’ll be, roughly, paying what you used to.
